Ipad session:

Showbie : more blended learning through use o an ipad instead of locking through screen at a laptop, because it is more handheld "blended learning "

BYOD = bring your own device

because its a web app, it means it will work on anything with a browser

Whatever is put into the "shared folder" everyone gets.
In the student specific name we can add differentiation

links work out of it in the same way.

anything you put into the "comment" will come up as a link

Brilliant resource! See rorob rorob on showbie.

google classroom is the same principle!

The payed one you can have the parent contact in addition!

REflector 2 or air server... allows you to mirror your ipad, or class computer devise. Its called airplay.

Requires teachers to work together to plan a coherent programme
Help teachers plan common activities for example work exprience visits and visiting seakers etc
Help teachers plan resources
Help teachers create their indvidual lesson plans
Help new teachers
Required teachers to think about the essential...

Key points

Should be constructed by teams of teachers
Should be held centrally

Educational Change Models.

see link
'tuckmans fight right video - shown by Keith Merrick

Unfreeze it, change model, refreeze .

Skillbeck situational analysis model, its cyclic, yu focus in on yur sitation or the situation you find yourself in.
you analyse, decide what you will do, deliver the thing, and then evaluate and go back to the beginning.
if you apply this to the SOW plan covered, then this is a useful way of pushing curriculum through.

Tuckmans summary
Feedback an thoughts:
Teachers will want to build teams, tuckman comes up with the idea of a blocker,
Tuckman has blockers which metaphorically represent the idea of "going around"

Lewin: Lewin unfreeze - change - refreeze

The change is the differentiation, can be implemented in one lesson. Its the idea of starting with an idea, working towards it then refreezing in new knowledge?
implements skill beck within it.

curriculum reform. every subject has changed.
applied A level used to be in Hbridge. then they replaced with alternative qualification. the slide was the original plan of what they were going to do.
see spec, see guides, and plan backward.

Design of content. the long term plan.
You can visually work out how long you are going to spend on each theme etc.
advantage for us is that
allows HOD to monitor the progress through SOW
Design of SofL

digital resources are invaluable where you can share information and resources so that all classes are essentially being taught in the same way or through the same projects etc.

BCU Friday 20/01/17

Textiles in contemporary practice.

Heidi... see info on her.

electronics and textiles...

do the pupils have any understanding of circuits at all frmo science etc?

electronic conductive fabric and threads are available, conducting threads. Submersible washable LEDs etc.

Funtex... an expensive but great fabric comes in spools.

peratech website, David lussey chief founder of the site, has developed a clever "smart material" that responds to its environment.

https://www.peratech.com/

Big needles for the conductive thread because it is hard to thread.
Dont use it like thread, use it as wire.normal thread for the sewing element.

Show them a wire and crocodile clip to illustrate that this is what the thread represents.

If the wires cross when thy are threading in/their thread. you will short circuit the circuit.

long leg of led is positive.
mark the long leg with a sharpie so that you know it is the positive.

Initial Ideas for project and SOW planning.

Lessons usually cover 8 weeks with Y7 and Y8 based on the fact they are grouped differently. Each group moves around the DT department creating a range of projects.

It may be useful for me to teach or shadow one of these groups throughout the DT timetable?

Lessons can be cut short based on interruption from exterior sources such as trips and other subject areas.

Y6 - Slippers
Skills required;
- Sewing
- Following a pattern
- Pleat
- Stitch style

Other Ideas that could be incorporated into the project

- Tye dye
- Fabric pattern making
- Screen printing
- Fabric pens

What does a slipper need to be?
Design brief?
Design Ideas
Specification - Who is the slipper for?
How well have you met your specification?

Is this too much for year 6? I dont think so, I'm sure that they could cope with the notion of a spec. a basic concept not the full ACCESS FM.
